Aims and objectives
COVEY aims to improve the lives of vulnerable young people in South Lanarkshire.
Our key objectives are to:
- offer young people the opportunity to engage in a trusting, supportive relationship with a reliable, consistent adult
- allow young people to be enabled to make positive choices and be supported in pursuing them
- enable young people to do things that they would not normally do on their own
- encourage young people to engage in positive use of their leisure time
- provide a young person with a positive role model.
The expected outcomes for the young people would include:
- growth of self-esteem
- developing confidence
- developing interests and new skills
- improved family and social relationships
- reduced isolation in the community
- improved quality of life.
In addition, for those young people involved with Youth Justice Services we would aim to maintain the progress that has been made through Youth Justice intervention and see a reduction in the seriousness and frequency of offending behaviour.
