Next Step Befriending
Next Step Befriending has an educational and recreational focus and gives our young people and their befrienders the chance to try new things. Young people and their befrienders learn together and have a lot of FUN in the process. Currently this is managed from our Clydesdale office.
We work in partnership with local organisations to ensure that the young people gain a sense of community and the ability to work with others. 90% of our young people in the Clydesdale area took part in a wide variety of activities:
Indoors, the drama, music, and art sessions were part of a project to produce the 'COVEY Movie'. Woodcarving, garden design and gardening, welding, metal work and dry stane dyking took place out doors, whatever the weather. Volunteers and young people also tried their hand at cookery, indoor games and Christmas crafts.
Young people told us that they had learned:
- how to work as part of a team
- how to look after plants
- how to cook
- how to use equipment properly and safely.
