Open Day
Covey's Open Day in August was very successful. Lots of people dropped in to have a go at our activities which included cookery, crafts and woodwork. Many faces were also painted resulting in lots of happy children.
Thanks go to all our volunteers who helped out that day and to Ronnie, Kim, Elaine, Stuart and Alison who kept everyone busy with the activities.
Next Step Befriending
The autumn session of Next Step Befriending has unforunately run into a few difficulties.
The fooball skills that were planned had to be cancelled at the last minute due to lack of a coach.
Ready Steady Cook started with a flurry at the beginning of October with five young people and their befrienders preparing, cooking, serving and eating a lovely dinner. This session not only helped to teach our young people (and some of our befrienders!) some cooking skills but also allowed the young people to set a table, serve the food and gave us all a chance to sit down together for a meal. (No TV dinners here!!) Since that first session, disaster has struck with Elaine having an accident and then the kitchen being closed for refurbishment - we hope to be back on track soon.
Get well soon Elaine.
Transition Befriending
This programme is aimed at young people who are at a transitional stage in their lives, such as moving from school into employment.
